From the Diamond to the DRFT

The Journey is the Process.

My name is Jim Wawruck, and the "DRFT" process is something that has been growing within me for decades. Long before I was standing in the cold currents of the Salmon River, I was on the 40-man roster for the Baltimore Orioles. Playing professional baseball from 1991 to 1997 taught me the grit and discipline required to perform at the highest level, but it was the water that eventually taught me how to breathe.

The Heart of a Teacher.

For the last 25 years, my "home field" has been the classroom. As a veteran health teacher, I’ve dedicated my life to helping others understand the connection between the mind and the body. Teach a Man to DRFT™ is the culmination of that career—a way to take those lessons out of the school building and onto the riverbank. I believe that whether we are in a classroom or a current, we are all students in a process that never truly ends.

40 Years on the Water.

I am an angler of all disciplines. Whether I’m technical fly fishing, executing a long-trot with a centerpin, casting into the salt, or working a baitcaster, I’ve learned that the technique is just the tool—the real prize is the peace found in the process.

I built this brand to share a specific balance: 50% the pursuit of the fish, 40% the pause of mindfulness, and 10% the grin of having fun with it.
